January my Nano started heating up. Took it to the Apple store and the service man told me it is a bad cable and gave me a new one. Even though I told him I had several cables! I asked him if there is a possibility that the Nano could catch on fire. He said no way. Last month I took it back again since it got even hotter and will not take charge. The service man at that time without question changed it with a new one. Told me that maybe there is a short in the battery. This Happened in North Carolina. If the Nano gets warm (it shouldn't) I suggest take it back.
